A Methodological Framework for Systems Thinking and Modelling (ST&M) Interventions

چکیده
This paper discusses a methodological framework for systems thinking and modelling interventions. The methodology includes five major phases: problem structuring; causal loop modelling; dynamic modelling; scenario planning and modelling; and implementation and organisational learning. These phases each involve a number of steps. However, each systems intervention does not require all the phases and steps to be undertaken. Rather which phases and steps are included depends on the issues or problems that have generated the systems enquiry, and the degree of effort that the organisation is prepared to commit to the intervention. Cases are provided to illustrate applications of the methodology.

A recent International Journal of Health Policy and Management (IJHPM) article by Fadi El-Jardali and colleagues makes an important contribution to the literature on health system strengthening by reporting on a survey of healthcare stakeholders in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) about Systems Thinking (ST). The study’s main contributions are its confirmation that healthcare stakeholde...

A major constraint to the application of any form of knowledge and principles is the awareness, understanding and acceptance of the knowledge and principles. Systems Thinking (ST) is a way of understanding and thinking about the nature of health systems and how to make and implement decisions within health systems to maximize desired and minimize undesired effects. A major constraint to applyi...
متن کاملConstraints to Applying Systems Thinking Concepts in Health Systems: A Regional Perspective from Surveying Stakeholders in Eastern Mediterranean Countries
Background Systems Thinking (ST) has recently been promoted as an important approach to health systems strengthening. However, ST is not common practice, particularly in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). This paper seeks to explore the barriers that may hinder its application in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) and possible strategies to mitigate them. Methods A survey consistin...
متن کاملPerspective of MAS in Power System via a Fuzzy Framework
Multi agent systems (MAS) are popularly used in practice, however; a few studies have looked at MAS capabilities from the power engineering perspective. This paper presents the results of an investigation concerning the compatibility of MAS capabilities in different power engineering categories. Five MAS capabilities and seven power system categories are established. A framework for applying MA...
